June: The Director’s Desk
Welcome to the first edition of the Director’s Desk! I’ve been brainstorming ways to stay better connected with all of you, our valued members, and to offer an inside look at what we’re working on at the Chamber. This bi-monthly blog will be your backstage pass to our projects, events, and the excitement happening behind the scenes. I know there’s a lot of curiosity about what we have in store, and I’m thrilled to share it with you.
Two weeks ago, we hosted Prism, an incredible day celebrating the inspiring women of Northeast Indiana. This event is a highlight for us, and we’re eager to keep that spirit alive year-round. One initiative we’re excited about is The Prism Conversations, designed to extend the inspiration and empowerment of Prism throughout the year. Stay tuned for more details!
We have a packed schedule for the rest of the year, with events aimed at enriching our community and supporting our members. We’re revamping our Teacher Wishlist program to provide even more resources for our schools as they gear up for the fall. Career Exploration Day at DeKalb High School this fall will be another fantastic opportunity, connecting students with potential career paths right here in DeKalb County.
Mark your calendars for November 14th—the Duesy Awards are back and better than ever! Get ready for a 70’s-themed celebration, complete with networking opportunities, workshops, and surprises that will make this night unforgettable.
I also had the privilege of attending the Indiana Chamber Executives Association Conference last week, and I’m excited to share some of the fun and innovative ideas we picked up. One of these is a new project that we’re exploring based on feedback and industry trends. Stay tuned for more information coming your way soon!
On a more personal note, the transition from Assistant Director to Executive Director has been quite the journey. It’s been more challenging than I anticipated, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. Your patience and support during this time have meant the world to me. It’s your dedication and enthusiasm that drive us to keep improving and striving for excellence. We are here for you, committed to advocating for your needs and supporting your success. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey with us.
